Vanity Break is an interview series where trailblazing women give a sneak peek into their beauty and wellness routines… because taking care of yourself isn’t vain — it’s vital.
With a name like Kamie Crawford, Kamie was destined to become a force to be reckoned with. She’s a journalist, model, entrepreneur, former Miss Teen USA, and TV host — you’ve probably seen her on MTV’s Catfish and E! News’ Daily Pop.
I follow Kamie on Instagram, and let’s be honest — she’s stunning. But I really enjoy her light-hearted personality and her dedication to speaking up about racial issues and size inclusivity in the modeling and influencer industries.
Let’s get into Kamie’s vanity break:
Walk me through your skincare routine.
Every morning I wash my face with a gentle cleanser – recently it’s been Kate Somerville’s Gel Cleanser. Then I apply some kind of under eye depuffer like the Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Eye Balm. I spray my skin with Mario Badescu Rosewater and apply a moisturizer – Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant is a go-to!
What was your latest beauty splurge? Was it worth it?
I’m blessed to receive a lot of PR products from brands, so I don’t have to spend too much money on beauty products these days. But, I asked for a Glamcor Riki Tall Vanity Mirror for Christmas that was totally worth it (thanks, mom!).
In your opinion, what’s the most overrated beauty product?
Those silicone sponges. They’re horrible. They look great in tutorials, but they make zero sense to me.
You only have 5 minutes to slay your makeup—what products are you reaching for?
- Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation
- Tarte Shape Tape
- Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick to contour
- Maybelline’s Master Chrome in Molten Gold for my highlight
- Also – BROW GEL! From Sisley or Kelley Baker Brows
You have an incredibly positive sense of self. What words of encouragement do you have for someone who is struggling with self-confidence and ignoring naysayers?
My mom always says, “If they don’t know you personally, don’t take it personal.” I’ve learned that when people have hateful things to say to you, it’s just them projecting their own insecurities onto you. You can join their negativity party and be down on yourself or you can decline the invite and flourish! It’s really your decision to love yourself despite what anyone else says.
